Ankara shoes are a Big Yay for me.....

I have fallen in love....hard in love with them.I can't bet on whether they are here to stay. However, one thing I can say for sure is that these African prints are simply creatively beautiful.Amazing.

Did You Know?

Read this from somewhere ;-)

  • The skin is your body's largest organ. An average adult's skin spans 21 square feet, weighs nine pounds and contains more than 11 miles of blood vessels.
  • Your skin can release as much as 3 gallons of sweat a day in hot weather.
  • The only areas of the body that don't sweat are the nail bed ,lip margins, tip of the penis and the ear drums.
  • Globally, dead skin accounts for about a billion tons of dust in the atmosphere. The skin sheds 50,000 cells every minute.
  • Body odour comes from a second kind of sweat, a fatty secretion produced by the apocrine sweat glands found mostly around the armpit, genitals and anus.

Let’s Pull off The Crimson Red Lipstick.

So am really looking for lipstick and spoilt for choice which colour to go for. Then it hits me The Crimson Red Lipstick. Why didn't I think of it ages ago? There is no arguing that red lipstick can be a bit uncomfortable to wear despite being fun and exciting.

To choose a red lipstick can be a bit tricky. Firstly, choose a colour that goes well with your skin plus make sure you choose the lipstick under good lighting. In most beauty stores, there will always be assistants to help you choose though. When applying your red lipstick, apply the inside of your lips too since the colour of your real lips might contrast to the redness of your lips when you open your mouth. Hehe!!

Being a bright colour  you want to avoid wearing too much make-up. You want to reduce on your eye shadow or have no eye shadow at all. Probably just the eye-liner and mascara. Red lipstick has the power of completeness. Even if the other make-up is less, your whole face will always look done. But then again just have the make-up fresh that is by doing a touch up on your foundation if it runs out. With this lipstick, please have a mirror to always check when or if it smears on your teeth. Plus kiss some tissue if you feel your red lipstick is too much.

Nails: When doing red lipstick try going neutral on your nails. As in go for clear nail polish or light nail polish or better still if you wish to do red then match the shade of your lipstick
with your nails.

You can also match your shoes and bag with your red lips….i think!! You will look amazing if those shades of red are the same and especially if your outfit is white. Or think of red lipstick, white top, blue jeans and red pointed pumps.

That Classic Plain White Tee!!

By now, it's probably safe to say that a white tee is a wardrobe staple piece. It never goes out of style. It is classic and chic….in my opinion. Plus white tees are affordable. Actually all are super affordable and I don’t see the need to go for expensive ones ;-)

The simplicity that a plain white tee brings along is what makes me fall hard in love with it. The fact that I am able to do lots of accessories with it. The fact that you can over clutter your silhouette and you will still be complimented on the same.

The how to’s of a plain white tee:
Firstly have a fitting plain white tee. Make sure your plain white tee is not oversize.

Then, any color of jeans look amazing with a plain white tee. However I prefer black or blue jeans. Shorts, mini skirts, harem pants, boyfriend jeans, distressed jeans name it, all work well with a plain white tee.

Accessorize! Accessorize! And accessorize!!Being plain and white is a chance to accessorize this plain white tee and not look ridiculous. Those pearl necklaces, those chunky chandelier earrings go well with a plain white tee. The big bangles. Colored bangles. Pretty belts. Secret: Just dazzle it up. However make sure there is a connection in your accessories and the general attire.

You can tuck in your white tee in a black high-waist skirt and still look great. On that black high-waist skirt that you have tucked in the white tee, you can still hook on your cute suspenders. And If you have a non-fitting white tee, as in just a little bigger than a fitting size, belt up to have that trendy chic’ish look.

White tees also look amazing when paired up with cute bright scarves. They compliment each other quite well whichever the color of the scarf. For shoes, trust me on this….any color and type of shoe will go well with a plain white tee, all that matters is that bottom you are wearing with your white tee.

My greatest don’t with a white tee is wearing it under a sleeveless dress. I find it so hideous and so yesterday. Besides I find it weird wearing a white tee under a tank top. A no!no! for me. Anyway it is just my tried and tested opinion.

I love Me distressed Jeans!!

I have fallen in love with these jeans. Deeply in love. They exude some stylish casualness that just compliments young and fashion conscious gals’ bodies. They come in different styles the current hit being distressed boyfriend jeans with cropped hems.

So how do I rock this ‘’relaxed chic in an instant’’ jeans?

I think it’s a style that most of us can do. If you are not into crazy attire probably you can start with having simple distressed jeans that show less skin.

Distressed jeans can be worn with tank tops that have minimal details. They also look good with simple tees. For shoes you can wear flats or maybe high heels slip ons. Just have the shoes simple too. If you choose to have a fancy top with details, then you can go for distressed jeans that have minimal rips. Basically you wanna balance your outfit so as not to appear too busy….you get what I mean.

It is also not a bad idea to throw in some accessories though keep them simple. You can maybe have a simple bangle, loop earrings. The thumb rule is to be distressed yet simple and trendy. You also want to avoid a lot of make up and have simple hair do’s. You can however carry a shoulder bag or a sling bag and still look chic and trendy.

Distressed jeans are a bit too casual and laid back and so I would advice not to go to a dressy occasion in them. I mean you want to avoid going to church in them. You want to avoid going to ‘dress down’ Fridays at the office in them. They can be for a lazy Sunday afternoon or Saturdays if you don’t go to work on Saturdays. Or even for a dancy night out since they are comfortable.

When buying distressed jeans, always note where the rips are located. For example you wanna avoid these jeans if the rips are at the knees since when you bend, they might tear up or make the rip holes to widen up. For plus size ladies, please have distressed jeans with less rips to avoid too much skin popping out.

Basically my ideal distressed look is the distressed jeans +high heel sleep ons + a white tank top and when cold I throw on a casual boyfriend blazer. Of course plus some few jewellery.

The Casual Black and White stripped attire.

The casual black and white stripped attire is one attire that I used to rarely put on. I found it a bit tricky to match it up, you know what I mean. Those kinda intimidating attires that you wear, then remove, then wear then remove. I can say I could take more than a month before rocking one of my stripped tank tops or coats. Nevertheless am seeing them make a come back and I thought I should share my opinion on the same.

Well to start, I never knew a short gal could rock horizontally stripped attire and still look great. Of course there is the myth of short gals + horizontal stripes = very short and plump. The black and white stripped casuals are actually versatile. They can be worn with quite a number of bright colors as opposed to the traditional black only. Black and white stripes exude a relaxed and vogue'ish look….I think. Think of the run way models and fashion magazines.

Anyway, stripped black and white attire can either be worn as either tight or loose. They can either be dresses, tops or even bottoms. Personally I prefer them as tops and coats, not as bottoms. As a top, stripped black and white can be worn with shorts, skirts, jeans trousers which should mostly be casual. They can be worn with bottoms of all colors….think of the reds, greens, blues, yellows, pinks but keep the colors plain. I guess you are picturing these colors in your heads too. Basically, mix black and white stripes with sophisticated colors not just the traditional black. Black and white stripes tops really look amazing with both black and blue jeans.

I find the black and white stripped attire to be a bit casual so I advice not to go to work in them. Even for the dress down Fridays, don’t. You can however go clubbing or just lazy around in them.

Well follow suite, don’t be scared to try the black and white stripes. Incorporate this style formula into your closet. They look fantastic.

Dress to Impress...

Have you ever met some ladies in the streets and you go like ''who the hell let her out of the house like that? Does she own a mirror?''

But why do you find yourself asking such questions? Is it because she looks horrible? Is she not modest? Is she not presentable?

Then again, who let her out of the house like that…..Her friends? Her husband? Her family?

But why would they do that? Are they really jealous? Do they really hate her that much?

This brings me to the point……

When I see a lady dressed well, I stop and appreciate her. I mean I stop and say ''Excuse me, you really look lovely……''Ok at times I put it indirectly like ''I love your top or your shoes…'' which is mostly the case. haha!!

The outcome: she radiates confidence and a smile that is more beautiful than the freaking sun.

Sometimes all a woman needs is a push in the right way….I think.

As women, let’s appreciate each other. My sisters for example never let me leave the house without telling me how I look. I will know that am not on point when they use words like ''I prefer your yesterday’s look or you could match this with that shoe or this looks better with that''

Dress appropriately and amazingly at the same time…..!!Dress like you are out to impress….!!And don’t force it, if you look at the mirror and you don’t like what you see, change it.

And lets tell each other the truth when need be….Be that good friend always.

Blaze it up in a Boyfriend Blazer :-)

Well I was prompted to write about Boyfriend Blazers since the day has been a bit cold and the first stylish attire that I could think of in the morning to keep me warm is one of my Boyfriend Blazers. Initially, so the name suggests, they were a bit long and used to look like male blazers. With time, the designs changed and currently we have Boyfriend Blazers that are actually above the hips as well as fitting as opposed to the original ones that were below the hips and a bit bulky.

Needless to say, I like the versatility that Boyfriend Blazers bring since they look good with all body types and sizes. Plus they actually emphasize your figure especially for the one-buttoned ones. They pass for an ‘any time of the day’ attire, whether for a coffee date with the gals, or a night out or even for running errands.

So how do I rock my Boyfriend Blazers?

I prefer my Boyfriend Blazers fitting, neither too big nor too small. Being petite, I wouldn't wish to look like I have literary borrowed my boyfriend’s blazer. Plus having an oversize blazer can make one look bulky. I also prefer rolling up my sleeves and if the sleeves of the blazer have pretty details or are coloured, folding them up also does my look some good justice.

Boyfriend Blazers can basically be worn on top of most tops for example, on fitting tees, on a tank top, on a blouse,on a spaghetti top, on a camisole e.t.c. They can be worn with skinny jeans, leggings, shorts, mini dresses, tights etc. Distressed denims for example bring out that chic yet trendy look. Simply cute!

I never leave my jewellery when doing my Boyfriend Blazers so as to bring out that edgy ‘I am Tweedy Look’. Chunky bangles, necklaces, earrings and those cocktail rings…..any time. However I don’t over do the jewellery and I make sure the colours blend so as not to look confused. If my attire is neutral, as in fewer details, I do colourful jewellery and vice versa. And with the current cold weather for example, I find myself throwing on a scarf and of course in this case I will limit the chunky necklaces.

Shoes: These will depend on the bottom outfit. I am mostly in high-heel slip on sandals since I find them comfy and ready to go. However Boyfriend Jackets look good with any shoes….gladiators, pumps, flat sandals, peep toes, wedges. Just how you match them is what matters.

And finally, I find myself mix matching my official pants or my pencil skirts with a Boyfriend Blazer too and am off to work. Truth be told Boyfriend Blazers can be rocked in many ways.

I don’t know whether Boyfriend Blazers are here to stay but I just love them
;-)

Yay To Tank Tops!!

Have tank tops replaced spaghetti tops? For me it’s a big YAY….I absolutely love them. Especially with the way they are produced in different colors and designs of prints. Wow!! They are simply amazing and can be worn as a non-formal day today attire.

My thumb rule for tank tops is always to choose bright colored tank tops with prints. The likes of whites, reds, yellows….ok all rainbow colors. I currently love the Eddy Hardy Tank Tops. The colors and prints, sweep me off my feet.... Any time.

With a nice pair jeans, sandals, chunk of necklace, loops for earrings, a cute belt, bunch of bangles plus warm weather, I know I turn heads with these simple tops. And when it’s cold in evening, all I need to do is throw on a cute jacket and boom…..beautiful things that life offers!!Plus you can add a pretty scarf on the tank top instead of the necklace and still look amazing.

And …… you can wear tank tops to work of course under a blazer or cardigan. One looks great in a tank top under a suit…. our news anchors for example. However, I feel if you have to wear a tank top under a suit, don’t flash your cleavage.

Tank tops can be worn with basically any bottom outfit: jeans, skirts, hot pants, shorts, harem pants name it.
I however as a fashion consultant prefer wearing my tank tops with strapless bras or back-clipped bra straps to avoid the straps showing. Just good mannerism, plus its cute like that.

So why don’t you also invest in these cute tops……!!I feel they are here to stay :-)

Fake that ass in Jeans!!

At this day and age it’s a little hard to find ladies who don’t wear jeans. In fact I personally prefer my jeans to my official wear and of course they come in handy especially for those of us who are full time students and also self employed.

We also need to appreciate the fact that some jeans look amazing on others than others. But why is it so? That bum, bootie is the answer. Yeah…your ass!! Well am going to talk to you about how to create an illusion of having a big bum since am not endowed in that sector and I feel it’s a topic I quite relate to.

If you cant have it, fake it….lol!!

And so, look for jeans with material that can stretch. Jeans that are not stretchable will only make your bum more flat sorry to say. As in your bootie will just be tightened and compact like balls under pressure.….not the good tight ass that dudes talk about.

You also wanna make sure you go for jeans that have back pockets and make sure these pockets are a bit wide apart to create an illusion of curves. Plus smaller pockets creates an illusion of a big bum than big pockets. Besides, having the pockets as flaps will come in handy since they will make the bum area look bigger ;-)  You can also have those back pockets colorful in terms of maybe having them embroidered in different colors. Having jeans with buttoned back pockets will also do some magic. You also wanna have these pockets situated where the bum is more fleshy, that is not so high and not so low :-p

The waist line of the jeans plays a role too. Have the waist line a bit average, not low.

Though most of my pals disagree with me on this, having the bum area faded creates an illusion of a big bum too.

And finally, maintain a good posture while walking and also wear heels….not necessarily very high like the likes of Beyonce, but not flat too. Heels tend to push out your ass. And for those who exercise, when you are exercising pay attention to squats, they might not be instant but with time you will see the difference between your old and new bootie.

Voila!!Strut that ass out in those jeans !!

"Neoned Up''

How to Wear Neon Colors.

This is a trend that is slowly streaming in and the question is would you find yourself wearing neon colors? To wear neon colors one needs to be very bold. However stylish it is, it can be little difficult to rock this trend.

For starters do not have very many neon items in your wardrobe since it’s a trend that will be out of fashion soon. You can start with few items like nail polish, jewellery  or maybe a belt or a scarf .

Also decide on the neon color that you wish to rock. There are different shades on each neon color, for example within blue you will find very many shades. Choose a color that suits your skin color and looks good on you.

Mix the neon colors. Don’t just do neon from head to toe. You might as well look like a clown. Haha!!You can choose to throw in some neutral colors to avoid giving people a headache when they see you all ‘neoned’ up. Sleek black for example will go with anything neon and will look great.

For the dare devils, you can also choose to color block your neon colors however keep it simple yet chic and trendy.

You can also choose the neon colored items as accessories, for example you can decide to have a clutch bag that is neon colored instead of having maybe a top that is neon colored. If it’s the earrings or bangles that you decide to be the neon collection, just make sure you blend well with your outfit. Neon sandals for example can look really stylish.

When having neon colors on, be ready to wear the mood as well. Do not wear a long face with neon colors on. And of course assess the mood of the places you are going to visit with your neon out fit. You don’t wanna go to a funeral in a neon outfit.

Then if you are not sure which color to pair with your neon outfit, always go for white anytime. Plus when you decide to pair up two neon items, make sure one is brighter than the other one.

Finally, check yourself out in the mirror before leaving the house. If you like what you see, then you can lead and others to follow. Also make sure your neon clothes are well fitting since neon colors will tend to make you look bigger.

My Shoes – My Image!

Are shoes just a woman's thing? Do we just buy them for protecting our feet? or going to work? or to the gym?

I smile when I see a beautiful pair of shoes. Not only are they for protecting the feet but also many other purposes…..!!Personally I have more than a hundred pairs of shoes…..each with its own story….some of which I have even nicknamed as sisters….depending on maybe their ability to blend with one outfit.

One will ask me why do I have many pairs of shoes?......’’But Beyonce, Eva Longoria,J-Lo, Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks,……’’ am speechless. Shoes give you authority, class, confidence….Shoes can give you a job!!Yes!!One will actually know the type of person you are from type of shoes you got….Beautiful shoes make you get noticed from a distance, from a crowd. They make a woman sexy….Show me a woman who doesn’t wanna be seen as sexy and I give you all my pairs of shoes…it’s a bet.

With their different colors shoes can transform a whole out fit. From sandals to heels to sports shoes…..they actually act as accessories!.For me, shoes are actually an indicator of the kinda mood am in.

Is there anyone who can do without shoes? Really? I know I can stay without music…but shoes…? Second to nature.

Nothing Is Impossible....Even the word itself says Im-Possible :-)
